Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
وَمَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَآ إِلَّا لَهۡوٞ وَلَعِبٞۚ وَإِنَّ ٱلدَّارَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ لَهِيَ ٱلۡحَيَوَانُۚ لَوۡ كَانُواْ يَعۡلَمُونَ
And this worldly life is not but diversion and amusement. And indeed, the home of the Hereafter – that is the [eternal] life, if only they knew.
[29:64]
And Allah ﷻ says elsewhere:
يَعْلَمُونَ ظَٰهِرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ هُمْ غَٰفِلُونَ
They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware.
[30:7]
As Saa’di رحمه الله writes regarding this:
They are living as if they weren’t created except for the Dunya and remaining in it.

This Dunya is Transitory!
It is fleeting! It is Temporary and not everlasting! So we should not live there as if this is our permanent abode.
The Prophet ﷺ advised us against this!
كن في الدنيا كأنك غريب ، أو عابر سبيل
Be in this Dunya as if you are a stranger, or a traveller of a path.
[Sahih Al-Bukhari 6053]

Al-Mustawrid reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
What is the example of this worldly life in comparison to the Hereafter other than one of you dipping his finger in the sea? Let him see what he brings forth.
[Sahih Muslim 2858]
_
So don’t get attached to the Dunya!
Engage with the worship & obedience of Allah ﷻ and leave the Dunya.
Fulfil your purpose!
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ
And I did not create Jinn and mankind except to worship me.
[51:56]

Store for yourself the currency of the hereafter, and don’t be concerned with that which will perish!
ٱلْمَالُ وَٱلْبَنُونَ زِينَةُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَٱلْبَٰقِيَٰتُ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًۭا وَخَيْرٌ أَمَلًۭا
Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one’s] hope.
[18:46]
Why?
Because the Dunya to the Akhirah is nothing!
وَلَلْءَاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
And the Akhirah is better for you than the first life.
[93:4]
_
May Allah ﷻ forgive us, grant us safety from all punishments and entry into Jannathul Firdous.
