Follow Up a Bad Deed With a Good Deed

Allah ﷻ says
إِلاَّ مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلاً صَـلِحاً
Except those who repent and believe, and do righteous deeds;
Means, that is; those who repent in this world to Allah ﷻ from all of those deeds and then do righteous deeds, for then Allah ﷻ will accept their repentance.
فَأُو۟لَٰئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ حَسَنَٰتٍۢ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا
for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
[25:70]

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه reported: A man kissed a woman and he came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned it to him. The verse was revealed:
وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ طَرَفَیِ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَزُلَفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِۚ إِنَّ ٱلۡحَسَنَـٰتِ یُذۡهِبۡنَ ٱلسَّیِّـَٔاتِۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ ذِكۡرَىٰ لِلذَّ ٰكِرِینَ
“Perform prayer at the two ends of the day and in the first hours of the night. Verily, good deeds remove evil deeds.” (11:114)
The man said, “O Messenger of Allah, is it for me only?” The Prophet said, “It is for all who act upon it from my nation.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 4687, Sahih Muslim 2763]
Abu Dharr رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Fear Allah wherever you are, follow a bad deed with a good deed and it will erase it, and behave with good character towards people.”
[Sunan al-Tirmidhī 1987, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Tirmidhi]

Coming back to our ayah. Allah ﷻ says:
وَمَن تَابَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا فَإِنَّهُۥ يَتُوبُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَتَابًۭا
And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds; then indeed he has repented with acceptance to Allah.
وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ
And those who do not testify to falsehood.
Lying, Swearing, Backbiting.
وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّواْ كِراماً
and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.
They do not attend where falsehood occurs, and if it so happens that they pass by it, they do not let it contaminate them.
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَمْ يَخِرُّوا۟ عَلَيْهَا صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًۭا
And those who, when they are reminded of the Ayat of their Lord, fall not upon them deaf and blind.
[25:71-73]

May Allah ﷻ make us among the pious and grant us Jannat Ul-Firdaus.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
