Don’t Starve Your Soul
Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari رضي الله عنه reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
مثل الذي يذكر ربه و الذي لا يذكر مثل الحي و الميت
The example of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who doesn’t is like the example of the one who is alive and the one who is dead
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

سبحان الله
We commit sins day and night again and again!
Abu Huraira reported: Prophet ﷺ said:
Verily, when the servant commits a sin a black spot appears upon his heart. If he abandons the sin, seeks forgiveness, and repents, then his heart will be polished. If he returns to the sin, the blackness will be increased until it overcomes his heart.
[Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3334, Grade: Sahih]

It is the covering that Allah ﷻ Has mentioned
كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
Nay! Rather a rust has formed over their hearts for what they used to do!
[83:14]

So to remove these black spots, this rust and to prevent it from overcoming our hearts…
We must also engage in obedience and worship, whilst also attempting to not sin at the same time!

Ibn Al Qayyim رحمه الله says
فإن الجاهل ميت القلب و الروح، و إن كان حي البدن، فجسده قبر يمشي على وجه الأرض
Indeed the ignorant person has a dead heart and soul, and if the body is alive, then his body is a grave walking on the face of this earth.

Why?
The ignorant person doesn’t remember his Lord, thus his soul died!
The ignorant person doesn’t repent from sins, thus his heart was overcome with darkness!

Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:
“The remembrance of Allah ﷻ for the heart is like water for the fish. What will be the state of the fish if it is taken out of water?”
_
When was the last time, you went into Sujood, making Du’a and seeking forgiveness?
When was the last time the Qur’an moved your heart and touched your soul?
When was the last time Dhikr and Tasbeeh escaped your lips and kept you mindful of Allah ﷻ?

Ya Ibn Adam!
Don’t let your soul starve.
Starvation leads to death!
And death of the soul leads to a bad life in the Dunya as well as the Akhirah..

Save yourselves.
Save your soul!
