The Food & The Drinks
Allah ﷻ says in Surah As-Saffaat
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُزُلًا
Is that a better accommodation,
Means, Allah ﷻ asks: Is that which He has mentioned of the delights of Paradise with its food, drink, companions and other joys better entertainment, or
أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ
Or the tree of Zaqqum.
إِنَّا جَعَلْنٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّـلِمِينَ
Indeed we have made it a trial for the wrong-doers.
[37:62-63]
Qatadah said “The tree of Zaqqum is mentioned as a test for those who are misguided. They said, Your companion tells you that in the Fire there is a tree, but fire consumes trees.’
Then Allah ﷻ revealed
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌۭ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire.
[37:64]
Meaning, it is nourished by the fire, for it was created from fire.”
It also means, its roots grow at the bottom of Hell.
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيٰطِين
The shoots of its fruit stalks are like the heads of Shayateen.
[37:65]
This is a description of how ugly and repulsive it is, it is likened to Shayateen because even though they are not seen, their evil nature makes us understand that they are also ugly and evil in appearance.
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
[37:66]
Allah ﷻ mentions that they will eat of this extremely ugly tree even though its fruit tastes and smells so bad; they will be forced to eat from it because they will not find anything else to eat except this tree and similar things.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْباً مِنْ حَمِيمٍ
Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.
[37:67]
Some Mufasireen say this is a mixture of boiling water mixed with pus and discharges that leak from the eyes and private parts.

Just as Allah ﷻ says
فَشَٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
Then on top of that you will drink boiling water
فَشَارِبُونَ شُربَ الهِيم
Indeed they shall drink like thirsty camels.
[56:55-56]

Not only will they eat and drink from this evil menu, they will eat and drink to their fill!
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.
[37:68]
They will be sent back, after this interval and they will be rotated between each other.
_
Reflect on this.
What a terrible place to be in!
May Allah ﷻ forgive us and protect us from the Hellfire and it’s horrors.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
