Seek the Right Knowledge
Allah ﷻ says:
قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى الَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَالَّذِينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Say: “Are those who know equal to those who know not”
[39:9]
Means, is this one equal with the one who sets up rivals to Allah ﷻ to mislead (men) from His path
إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُوْلُواْ الأَلْبَـبِ
It is only men of understanding who will remember.
[13:19]
Means, the only one who will understand the difference between them is the one who has understanding and Allah ﷻ knows best.
You can be the smartest person in the world and you can be the most powerful, the strongest and the most beautiful. But if you don’t have Islam, then you have nothing.
Abu Lahab and Abu Jahl are your examples!
Wallahi ponder upon them and reflect!
Abu Jahl was actually a respected man in Qur’aysh and was named Abu Al Hakam (Father of Wisdom) because of his wisdom, but due to his staunch disbelief look at how Allah ﷻ made him known as Abu Jahl (Father of the Ignorant)
Abu Lahab would say about Jannah, that if it was Haqq, then he would trade his wealth with Allah ﷻ for it on Qiyamah.
So when Allah ﷻ revealed Surah Masad
Allah ﷻ said
مَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ
His wealth and what he earned will not avail him!
[111:2]
And if you look in the Qur’an you find it when Allah ﷻ describes Hellfire and Kuffar, he makes mention of what they value most and how they think it gives them power, but on Qiyamah will not help them.
Before Allah ﷻ describes الحطمة in Surah Humazah, He mentions the person and their traits
یَحۡسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥۤ أَخۡلَدَهُۥ▪️كَلَّاۖ لَیُنۢبَذَنَّ فِی ٱلۡحُطَمَةِ
He thinks his wealth will make him live forever!No! He will surely be downcast into the crushing disaster.
[104:3-4]
And when Allah ﷻ describes أصحاب الشمال in Surah Al Haqqah
مَا أَغْنَى عَنِّي مَالِيَه
My wealth has not availed me
هَلَكَ عَنِّي سُلْطَانِيَه
My power has perished from me
[69:28-29]
Oh ibn Adam! The Dunya is a prison for you, but you took it as a paradise like the Kuffar did. You value it as the Kuffar do, and it will be your downfall just as it will be for the Kuffar!
Oh Ibn Adam! Seek knowledge and do many good deeds. Attaining higher rank with your Rabb is the true success of this Dunya and the Akhirah.
May Allah ﷻ guide us all.
