The real punishment
Allah ﷻ says
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمُ
Oh you mankind! Fear your Lord!
[4:1]

Meaning have Taqwa!
So what is Taqwa?
To fear your Lord to the extent that it keeps you away from Haram, makes you avoid that which is frowned upon, and engages you in Obedience and Righteousness until you die!
_
إِنَّ زَلْزَلَةَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ شَىْءٌ عَظِيمٌۭ
Surely the Quaking of the Hour is a terrible thing.
[22:1]
_
Allah ﷻ says
إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا
When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake.
وَ أَخرَجَتِ الأَرضُ أَثْقَالَهَا
And the earth discharges its burdens.
[99:1-2]
Meaning, it will throw forth that which is in it of the dead.
_
The Quaking of the Earth will displace the graves!
In another Ayah,
وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ
And when the contents of the graves are scattered.
[82:4]

Ponder upon this scene!
Ponder upon yourself!
_
Then Allah ﷻ says
يَوْمَ تَرَوْنَهَا تَذْهَلُ كُلُّ مُرْضِعَةٍ عَمَّآ أَرْضَعَت
The day you shall see it, every nursing mother shall forget her nursing.
Means, she will be distracted by the horror of what she is seeing, which will make her forget the one who is the dearest of all to her and to whom she shows the most compassion. Her shock will make her neglect her infant at the very moment of breastfeeding,
وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَهَا
and every pregnant one will drop her load,
Means, the Horror will cause them to have a miscarriage in that moment.
Such is the extreme trauma of the day of Judgement.
وَتَرَى ٱلنَّاسَ سُكَٰرَىٰ
and you shall see mankind as in a drunken state
The severity of Qiyamah will cause them to lose their minds,
وَمَا هُم بِسُكَٰرَىٰ
Yet they won’t be drunken.
وَلَٰكِنَّ عَذَابَ ٱللَّهِ شَدِيدٌۭ
But the punishment of Allah is severe.
[22:2]
_
Allah ﷻ ends the Ayah with this, as if to say, “If you think Qiyamah is bad, Hellfire is worse!”
_
سبحان الله
Fear your Lord!
You think the beats from your mother or father, them taking away your phone is a severe punishment?
_
Then ponder upon the lightest punishment,
Burning sandals that will boil the brain!
_
So let us repent to Allah ﷻ now, and start a life of obedience!
Wallahi it will be too late only when your soul is taken, or the sun rises from the west!
_
May Allah ﷻ forgive us and make us amongst His obedient slaves
