EPISODE 4️⃣: GHAIR MU’AKKADAH
SALAATUD-DUHAA
Salatud-duhaa (prayer of the forenoon) is a virtuous act of worship. It is the prayer of penitent. It is an alternative to the charity imposed on every joint in our body.
Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) said:
“In the morning charity is due from every bone in the body of every one of you. Every utterance of Allah’s glorification is an act of charity. Every utterance of praise of Him is an act of charity, every utterance of profession of His Oneness is an act of charity, every utterance of profession of His Greatness is an act of charity, enjoining good is an act of charity, forbidding what is distreputable is an act of charity, and two rak’ahs of Duhaa will suffice.”
[Sahih Muslim 720]
When to observe the prayer
The time for Salaatud-duhaa starts from about fifteen minutes after the sun rises till just before the time for Dhuhr prayer.
It is preferred to delay the prayer till the sun is high in the sky and it’s heat becomes more intense.
Number of Rak’ahs
The least number of Rak’ahs for the Duhaa prayer is two. It is recommended to perform eight Rak’ahs. It is also allowed to perform more.
