To have the sweetness of Imaan is to enter happiness in the Dunya, and it is the reason for the descending of mercy from Allah ﷻ upon a person!

Allah ﷻ says
فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَىٰ
Whoever follows my guidance will not go astray [In Dunya] nor will he suffer [In Akhirah]
[20:123]

Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said
“Verily in this world is a Paradise, whoever does not enter it will not enter the Paradise in the hereafter”
He was referring about the sweetness of Imaan!
This is the Jannah of the Dunya,
It is not the fast cars or the expensive ones,
Nor the beautiful women ,
Nor the designer clothing and recognition from the creation!

Ibn Al Qayyim رحمه الله outlines some methods of purifying the heart in order to taste the sweetness of Imaan.
1⃣ Develop your relationship with the Qur’an.
Do you recite it, understand it and implement it in your life?
Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
إِنَّمَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَجِلَتۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتُهُۥ زَادَتۡهُمۡ إِيمَٰنٗا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses (Qur’an) are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely
[8:2]

Ramadan is fast approaching. This is the best time to strengthen your relationship with the Qur’an.

2⃣ Come closer to Allah ﷻ with the Faraa’idh and then the Nawafil!
The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah ﷻ said in a Hadith Qudsi, “My servant draws not near to Me with anything more beloved by Me than the Faraa’idh, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with Nawafil so that I shall love him.”
[Hadith Nawawi No:38]

3⃣ Dhikr (Remembrance) of Allah ﷻ
The remembrance of Allah ﷻ cleanses the heart, keeps a person mindful and causes a person to be forgiven of his minor sins!
Abu Darda رضي الله عنه reported: The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Shall I not tell you of the best of your deeds, which is the purest to your King, which raises you among your ranks, which is better for you than spending gold and money in charity, and which is better for you than meeting your enemy and striking the necks of each other?” They said, “Of course!” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “It is the remembrance of Allah Almighty.”
[Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3377, Grade: Sahih]

4⃣ Giving preference to what Allah ﷻ loves
Giving preference to what Allah ﷻ loves over what you love, when faced with your desires.
Abu Qatadah رحمه الله reported: The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Verily, you will never leave anything for the sake of Allah Almighty but that Allah will replace it with something better.”
[Musnad Aḥmad 22565, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Albani]

May Allah ﷻ Grant us the highest of Imaan and Ikhlas.
