Surah Hadid Ayah 20

Allah ﷻ says in Surah Hadid

اعْلَمُوا

Know
Meaning, Be sure, have no doubt, acknowledge this truth!

أَنَّمَا الْحَيَوةُ الدُّنْيَا

That the life of this world is only

لَعِبٌ

Play
for the young child who plays with anything and this is his only concern in the world.

وَلَهْوٌ

Amusement
the pre-teen who seeks amusement with the best toys to play with, and this is his concern.

وَزِينَةٌ

luxury,
The beauty of this world, the 16-24 year old is concerned with beauty and appearance!

وَتَفَاخُرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ

and boasting to one another
The old person now boasts to others of his achievements, “Look at my wealth!, the achievements of my kids!”

وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِى الاٌّمْوَلِ وَالاٌّوْلْـدِ

And rivalry in respect of wealth and children.
As an adult, the concern is now earning and working to live comfortable! And this is his only concern!

كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ

Like a rain

أَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُ

thereof the growth is pleasing to the tiller;
Just as they admire growth, the disbelievers admire life!

ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَاهُ مُصْفَرّاً ثُمَّ يَكُونُ حُطَاماً

Afterwards it dries up and you see it turning yellow
The Parable of Mankind and the Dunya!
Just as the crop starts fresh and green, it grows and in turn fades, people start off youthful and strong but that all fades with age!

وَفِى الاٌّخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَنٌ

But in the Hereafter (there is) a severe torment, and (there is) forgiveness from Allah and (His) pleasure.

Then Allah ﷻ ends the ayah

وَما الْحَيَوةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلاَّ مَتَـعُ الْغُرُورِ

And the life of this world is only a deceiving enjoyment.
[57:20]
Meaning, this life is only a form of enjoyment that deceives those who incline to it, Yet, in reality, this life is insignificant as compared to the Hereafter.
_
Don’t let this Life deceive you!
Wallah, remember and reflect that the hereafter has two abodes!
And act according to which one you want to enter!
_
The disbelievers don’t look forward to anything, but you know the Haqq!
Thats why they made their Jannah the Dunya,
So don’t follow them!
_
You know better!
_
So act upon what you know!
And if you do not know, then learn!
_
Don’t be from those who regret on Qiyamah! Who wish to be dust!
