The Consciousness of Allah ﷻ (Taqwa)

Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا تَنَٰجَيۡتُمۡ فَلَا تَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ وَمَعۡصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ بِٱلۡبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۖ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ

O you who have believed, when you converse privately, do not converse about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger but converse about righteousness and piety. And fear Allah, to whom you will be gathered.
[58:9]

From this verse it is clear that Taqwa means a lot more than just piousness.

It is the combination of our beliefs, self-awareness, and attitudes. It is a reminder to stay on the path of uprightness, decency and knowing the difference between right and wrong.

It is about having Consciousness of Allah ﷻ in terms of knowing and obeying all His orders including not only fearing Him but also acting in all His directions.

Ali رضي الله عنه defined Taqwa as “Fearing Al Jaleel, (Allah) acting upon the Tanzeel (The Qur’an), being content with Qaleel (Little) and preparing for the Raheel (The last day)”

When we encompass these characteristics into our daily lives,
Then Allah ﷻ will facilitate for us, relief in the Dunya and eternal happiness in the Akhirah!

Allah ﷻ says

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

And fear Allah and know that Allah is with those who have Taqwa.
[2:194]

Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about that for which people are admitted into Paradise the most, so he said:
“Taqwa of Allah, and good character.”
And he was asked about that for which people are admitted into the Fire the most, and he said:
” The mouth and the private parts.”
[Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2004, Grade: Sahih]

We need to be among those who have Taqwa!
In all the aspects of our lives,
Guarding and protecting our Eyes, Mouth, Ears, Hands from the Haram and the Fitan which the Dunya and Shaytaan seek to destroy us with!

Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنه said:
“Whoever has taqwa of his Lord and maintains ties of kinship, his term of life will be prolonged, his wealth will be abundant, and his family will love him.”
[Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 59]
_
Before we indulge our desires!
Before we harm ourselves with sins and disobedience!
We must think!
Before we destroy our dignity, by free-mixing and inclining towards Zina,
Before we destroy our honour, by sitting with those who anger Allah!
_
We must think!
For this Dunya is short and the eternal Akhirah is waiting!
_
May Allah ﷻ grant us a better understanding increase us in Taqwa
