O SERVANTS OF ALLAH (ﷻ), WHEN WILL WE TAKE HEED

O you who believe turn to Allaah with sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will remit from you your sins and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow (paradise)…
[At-Tahrim 66:8]

Today, we Muslims find ourselves in a state of heedlessness, engulfed in the pleasures of this world, and losing focus on our main objective.

We have sinned a lot until it has become for us like an addiction and we don’t even realize that. The root cause of every calamity that befalls a society is as a result of their sins and disobedience of Allaah (ﷻ).

And whatever befalls you of misfortune is as a result of what your hands have earned, and He pardons much
[Ash-Shura 42:30]

Therefore, we need to repent! Our society is witnessing from one calamity to another, day in day out. Isn’t it yet time for us to turn our nonchalant attitude to obedience and steadfastness? Aren’t we yet ready to set our affairs straight and attain stability and security?

And turn to Allaah all you O believers so that you may be successful
[An-Noor 4:31]

And whosoever does not repent then such are indeed the wrongdoers…
[Al-Hujurat 49:11]

Muhammad ibn Ka’b (رحمه الله) said; repentance comprises four things: Seeking forgiveness verbally, giving it up physically, forming intention in the heart not to go back to it, and forsaking bad friends
(Madarij as saaliheen)

Umar bn al Khattab and Ubay ibn Ka’b ( رضي الله عنهما) said: Sincere repentance means repenting from the sin and not going back to it just as milk does not go back to the udder.
[Tafsir at-Tabari, 12/158]

Bear in mind that repentance is not just mere uttering of phrases but understanding them and acting with their implications.

Allaah (ﷻ) is the most forgiving and His mercy encompasses everything. So why haven’t you turned back to your lord?

Will they not repent to Allaah and ask His forgiveness? For Allaah is Oft-forgiving, Most merciful…
[Al-Ma’idah 5:74]

Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) reported that Allaah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: Allaah is more pleased with the repentance of a servant as he turns towards Him for repentance than this that one amongst you is upon the camel in a waterless desert and there is upon (that camel) his provision of food and drink also and it is lost by him, and he having lost all hope (to get that) lies down in the shadow and is disappointed about his camel and there he finds that camel standing before him. He takes hold of his nose string and then out of boundless joy says: 0 Lord, thou art my servant and I am Thine Lord. He commits this mistake out of extreme delight…
[Sahih Muslim book no 37 Hadith 6619]

الله اكبر!
How merciful is Allaah (ﷻ)

May Allaah (ﷻ) forgive us our shortcomings and grant us sincere repentance before our death. Ameen
