THE ROLE OF PARENTS (2)

Secondly, the relationship between a mother and a father gives the child the first insight as to what a relationship in marriage looks like.
The father is usually the first man that a girl child encounters. He is the model that she uses to understand the rights and responsibilities of a man.
She looks up to her mother as role model observing her day to day activities and learning from her how to raise a home. She also learns from her how to respond to varying degrees of situations and mannerism of carrying out actions.
Similarly, a son looks up to his father and learns from him how to be man. He learns how to be diligent, patient and to be responsible and accountable.
ٱلرِّجَالُ قَوَّ ٰمُونَ عَلَى ٱلنِّسَاۤءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بَعۡضَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ وَبِمَاۤ أَنفَقُوا۟ مِنۡ أَمۡوَ ٰلِهِمۡۚ
Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allaah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth…
[Surah An-Nisa Ayah 34]
Where this grooming is lacking, a situation arises that young people who wish to get married lack the knowledge and skills needed to build a home and raise a family successfully in accordance to the sunnah.
For example, if a family is experiencing financial crises and the mother is such that she supports her husband with a warm conduct knowing what he is going through. If she teaches her children to exercise patience because after every hardship comes ease, the children will learn in that scenario that life isn’t just a flat journey but like a roller-coaster, full of ups and downs.
Therefore, attributes such as patience, perseverance and the ability to communicate in a kind and understanding manner are inculcated in the children. These attributes are essential in one’s marital life .
Children should also be taught that life is a temporary place and that they must always aim higher by building their hereafter through purifying their intentions and performing actions in accordance to the Qur’an and sunnah.
This will help them to be less materialistic and contented with what they have.
And Allaah (ﷻ) says:
زُیِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ ٱلشَّهَوَ ٰتِ مِنَ ٱلنِّسَاۤءِ وَٱلۡبَنِینَ وَٱلۡقَنَـٰطِیرِ ٱلۡمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ وَٱلۡفِضَّةِ وَٱلۡخَیۡلِ ٱلۡمُسَوَّمَةِ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ وَٱلۡحَرۡثِۗ ذَ ٰلِكَ مَتَـٰعُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۖ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسۡنُ ٱلۡمَـَٔابِ
۞ قُلۡ أَؤُنَبِّئُكُم بِخَیۡرࣲ مِّن ذَ ٰلِكُمۡۖ لِلَّذِینَ ٱتَّقَوۡا۟ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ جَنَّـٰتࣱ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَا وَأَزۡوَ ٰجࣱ مُّطَهَّرَةࣱ وَرِضۡوَ ٰنࣱ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِیرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ
▪️ Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire – of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allaah has with Him the best return.
▪️ Say, “Shall I inform you of [something] better than that? For those who fear Allaah will be gardens in the presence of their Lord beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and purified spouses and approval from Allaah. And Allaah is Seeing of [His] servants.
[Surah Aal-E-Imran, Ayah 14-15]
May Allaah (ﷻ) guide us to raise our children in a manner that pleases Him.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
