BEARING FALSE WITNESSES
It is now a thing of humour to bear false witnesses and cyber bullying people simply because we want to have fun or follow a trend.
For the sake of entertainment, we bear false witnesses, tell lies, slander and judge people wrongfully.
Little do we know that bearing false witness is the nineteenth greatest sin in Islam.
Allaah (ﷻ) says:
وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَـيْسَ لَـكَ بِهٖ عِلْمٌ ۗ اِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَا لْبَصَرَ وَا لْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ اُولٰٓئِكَ كَا نَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُوْلًا
“And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart – about all those [one] will be questioned.”
[Al-Israa 17:36]
Either physically or online, know your boundaries with people. It is not in your place to dictate what is right or wrong (except matters of deen that have been clarified in the Shariah or cultural morals). If it is bad, avoid it, if it is good, enjoin it. If you do not know where it stands then ignore it.
Remember, like everyone else, you are a mere mortal who will also account for their deed in front of Allaah (ﷻ). Stop criticizing others because they do not behave in a manner you do. People must not do or see things your way, and because they do not see it your way does not mean their methods are bad. No relationship should be forced, it is either good or bad, if it is good, grow it, if it is bad, severe it!
There is no in-between. Save yourself the stress, life itself is tough enough, don’t complicate it.
Live and let live. You do not know what baggage others are carrying and because they carry it well does not mean it is not heavy. Look beyond the physical/obvious appearance, you wouldn’t want to be judged by your misperceived conceptions either.
Do not judge others by the one thing you know, there are several other causes unknown to you. Hence, try to look at the unseen picture, the untold story, the motive and the intentions behind an action or reaction.
Do not disturb another so badly they kneel before their Creator (in tears) begging to be rid of you. Allaah (ﷻ) created us equal, oppression is oppression no matter who or what is involved…
And Allaah (ﷻ) says;
۞إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ وَٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنِ وَإِيتَآيِٕ ذِي ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَيَنۡهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِ وَٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَٱلۡبَغۡيِۚ يَعِظُكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ
“Indeed, Allaah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.”
(An-Nahl, 16:90)
It was narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr Al-Ghafari (رضي الله عنه), that the Prophet (ﷺ) said Allaah said:
“O My servants! I have forbidden oppression for Myself, and I have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another…
(An-Nawawi 40 Hadith, Hadith No.24)
… it becomes worse if the oppressed is helpless. He (ﷻ) is Al-Adl – The Just.
And He (ﷻ) says;
وَنُرِيدُ أَن نَّمُنَّ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتُضۡعِفُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَنَجۡعَلَهُمۡ أَئِمَّةٗ وَنَجۡعَلَهُمُ ٱلۡوَٰرِثِينَ
“And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors”
(Al-Qasas, 28:5)
If you do not fear your conscience then fear Allaah (ﷻ), The Reckoner, (Allaahul ladhi khalaqal mawt wal hayaat wa huwa ala kulli shay’in qadeer). Do not bear false witness against people, especially not intentionally. Do not!
Allaah (ﷻ) says :
فَا جْتَنِبُوا الرِّجْسَ مِنَ الْاَ وْثَا نِ وَا جْتَنِبُوْا قَوْلَ الزُّوْرِ
So avoid the uncleanliness of idols and avoid false statements,”
[Al-Hajj 22:30]
May Allaah (ﷻ) guard our affairs aright.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
