You Will Be With Whom You Love
Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be in the company of those blessed by Allah: the prophets, the people of truth, the martyrs, and the righteous—what honourable company!
[4:69]
Do you know what the cause of revelation for this Ayah is?
Abu Nu’aym and Tabaraani narrated this Hadith,
On the Authority of Ai’sha رضي الله عنها, she said:
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said “Oh Messenger of Allah! By Allah, Indeed you are more beloved to me than myself, my family, my children and anything else. Whilst I am in my house I remember you, and I am not able to remain patient until I come to you so that I look at you, and when I remembered my death and your death, I realised that when you enter Jannah you will be raised to be amongst the Prophets, and when I enter Jannah I am scared I won’t see you.”
The Prophet ﷺ did not respond to him, until Jibreel عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ descended with this Ayah, “And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be in the company of those blessed by Allah: the prophets, the people of truth, the martyrs, and the righteous—what honourable company!”
[This was collected by Al-Hafiz Abu `Abdullah Al-Maqdisi in his book, Sifat Al-Jannah, Al-Tabari included it in his Tafsir (8/534-535)]

Another Hadith, equally as beautiful:
Anas رضي الله عنه narrates that a man asked the Prophet ﷺ about Qiyamah.
He said “When is Qiyamah?” He ﷺ said “and what have you prepared for it?” He said “Nothing except that I love Allah and His Messenger ﷺ”
The Prophet ﷺ said “You will be with whom you love”
Anas رضي الله عنه said “We did not rejoice with anything like we did with the saying of the Prophet ﷺ “You will be with whom you love.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 3688]

Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“None of you have faith until I am more beloved to him than his children, his father, and all of the people.”
[Sahih al-Bukhārī 15, Sahih Muslim 44]

One of the strongest indications of one’s love for the Messenger of Allah is found in one’s obedience to the Messenger. As Imam Shafi رحمه الله would say:
لَوْ كانَ حُبُّكَ صَادِقاً لأَطَعْتَهُ, إنَّ الْمُحِبَّ لِمَنْ يُحِبُّ مُطِيعُ
If your love is sincere, you would have obeyed Him. For indeed the lover is obedient to the one he loves.
By following in the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ you will not only be proving your love for the Messenger but you will also attain the love of Allah ﷻ, as mentioned in the Qur’an.
Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”
[3:31]

May Allah ﷻ make us among those who love the Prophet ﷺ and gather us on the day of Judgement along with him.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
