A purity in the heart of a believer
Allah ﷻ says in Surah An-Nur
ٱللَّهُ نُورُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ
Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth.
Ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه said, “There is no night or day with your Lord; the Light of the Throne comes from the Light of His Face.”
Allah ﷻ continues:
مَثَلُ نُورِهِ
The example of His light.
There are two opinions regarding this.
One of the opinion is that it refers to the Believer,
the parable of the light in the heart of the believer is
كَمِشْكَوٰةٍۢ
As a Niche
فِيهَا مِصْبَاحٌ
Within which is a lamp
الْمِصْبَاحُ فِى زُجَاجَةٍ
The lamp is in a glass
Means, the light is shining in a clear glass
Referring to the heart of a believer.
الزُّجَاجَةُ كَأَنَّهَا كَوْكَبٌ دُرِّىٌّ
The glass as if it were a pearly star
Referring to a shining star which is huge, bright and clear.
يُوقَدُ مِن شَجَرَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ زَيتُونَةٍ
Lit from a blessed olive tree.
لاَّ شَرْقِيَّةٍ وَلاَ غَرْبِيَّةٍ
Nor of the east nor the west
Referring to the tree that is not obstructed by other objects and positioned perfectly so it produces the best oil.
يَكَادُ زَيْتُهَا يُضِىٓءُ وَلَوْ لَمْ تَمْسَسْهُ نَارٌۭ ۚ
whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself), though no fire touched it. The oil itself is shining.

The heart of the believer in its purity and clarity is likened to a lamp in transparent and jewel-like glass, and the Qur’an and Sunnah by which it is guided are likened to good, pure, shining oil in which there is no impurity or deviation.
نُّورٌ عَلَىٰ نُورٍۢ ۗ
Light upon Light.
Just like the oil and the fire need each other, the Noor Al Qur’an and Noor Al Imaan cannot exist without the other.
يَهْدِى اللَّهُ لِنُورِهِ مَن يَشَآءُ
Allah guides to His Light whom He wills
وَيَضْرِبُ اللَّهُ الاٌّمْثَالَ لِلنَّاسِ وَاللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلَيِمٌ
And Allah sets forth parables for mankind, and Allah is All-Knower of everything
[24:35]
He knows best who deserves to be guided and who deserves to be led astray.

This Noor comes to a person when he opens his heart on the straight path towards Jannah!
May Allah ﷻ Grant us this Light and May He ﷻ forgive our shortcomings.
