Can You Withstand It?
Hellfire is a place of utter despair!
Unbearable torture and pain!
Allah ﷻ says about it in the Qur’an:
إِنَّهَا سَاءَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَمُقَامًا
Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence.
[25:66]
In many other places the Hellfire has been described as a wretched place. Allah ﷻ says:
وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ
A wretched destination
[67:6]
وَبِئْسَ الْقَرَارُ
A wretched settlement
[14:29]
وَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ
A wretched resting place
[3:12]
The food for the people of Hellfire is Az Zaqqum and its peoples drink Boiling water,
وَيُسْقَىٰ مِن مَّاءٍ صَدِيدٍ
And he will be given festering water to drink
يَتَجَرَّعُهُ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُسِيغُهُ وَيَأْتِيهِ الْمَوْتُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ وَمَا هُوَ بِمَيِّتٍ ۖ وَمِن وَرَائِهِ عَذَابٌ غَلِيظٌ
He will gulp it but will hardly [be able to] swallow it. And death will come to him from everywhere, but he is not to die. And before him is a massive punishment.
[14:16-17]

And what about the Garments?
ثِيَابٌ مِّن نَّارٍ يُصَبُّ مِن فَوْقِ رُءُوسِهِمُ الْحَمِيمُ
Garments of fire, and boiling water will be poured over their heads
يُصْهَرُ بِهِ مَا فِي بُطُونِهِمْ وَالْجُلُودُ
By which is melted that within their bellies and skins.
وَلَهُم مَّقَامِعُ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ
And for [striking] them are maces of iron.
[22:19-21]

From where would they get food?
مِن ضَرِيعٍ
From a poisonous thorny bush
And how will it be?
لَا يُسمِنُ وَ لَا يُغنِي مِن جُوعٍ
It neither nourishes nor satisfies from hunger
[88:6-7]
Maybe some water?
يُغَاثُوا بِمَاءٍ كَالْمُهْلِ يَشْوِي الْوُجُوهَ
They will be relieved with water like murky oil which scalds their faces.
بِئْسَ الشَّرَابُ وَسَاءَتْ مُرْتَفَقًا
A wretched drink and an evil resting place.
[18:29]
سبحان الله
These are some of the descriptions of the Hellfire!
Ask yourselves my dear brother and sisters!
Would you want to spend even a second in this wretched place?

Ya Ibn Adam! Remind yourself constantly about the Hellfire!
_
May Allah ﷻ make us among those who are righteous, May Allah save us from the fire and forgive all our past sins and grant us entry into Jannah Al Firdous without punishment.
