Who are they?

Allah ﷻ says in Surah Waqiah

“and the foremost (in faith) will be the foremost (in Paradise).”
[56:10]

One opinion says this is about the Prophets,
while As-Suddi said that they are the residents of the utmost highs Ahl Al-Illiyyin, in Paradise and the meaning of foremost is that they were foremost in performing the acts of righteousness.

Ali رضي الله عنه said “they are the foremost to the five prayers.”
Sa’id Ibn Jubayr رحمه الله said (Hurrying) towards repentance and deeds of righteousness.

Allah ﷻ says

“And march forth in the way (which leads to) forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for Al-Muttaqun”
[3:133]

And Allah ﷻ also says:

It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them.
[23:61]

Coming back to Surah Waqiah Allah ﷻ says:

These will be the nearest (to Allaah). In the Gardens of Delight.

A multitude of those will be from the first ones

Refers to the earlier generations of this Ummah, while,

and a few from later generations.

Refers to the latter people of this Ummah.

(All will be) on jewelled thrones,

Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه said, “Woven with gold.”

Reclining on them, facing each other.

Indicating that they will face each other, and none of them will be in the back lines.

They will be served by immortal boys,

“With cups, and jugs, and a glass of flowing wine.”

All of them, including the glasses, will contain wine drawn from a flowing spring, not from containers that might get empty. Rather, this spring of wine flows freely.

No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated.
[56:11-19]

Meaning, they will never get headaches from this wine nor intoxicated. This wine does not affect their minds, even though it has a strong and tremendously delightful taste.

What a promise for the As Sabiqoon!
What better is there than the promise of Jannah, the promise of seeing Allaah ﷻ?

This is the true success, so strive for it!!
