Turn to Allah ﷻ before you return to Him
Do not look at anyone as if they are lower than you, Nor think that they are more evil than you, We must always look at ourselves, that we have fallen short. So what has occupied us with looking at the sins of others?
Oh Muslims! Oh Beloved people!
Allah has opened for us a great door, [Door of Tawbah] And indeed it is from arrogance and pride that we say, this door is for other than us, and not for us. The biggest calamity is that we think that this door was created and opened for other than us. Save yourselves with your feet!
[By walking through this door]
Allah ﷻ says in the glorious Qur’an about the leader of the hypocrites [Abdullah ibn Ubayy]:
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ يَسْتَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ لَوَّوْا۟ رُءُوسَهُمْ
And when it is said to them [the hypocrites] come, the Messenger of Allah will seek forgiveness for you, they turn their heads
وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ وَهُم مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ
And you would see their faces turning away with pride.[63:5]
Abdullah ibn Ubayy used to stand every Friday and praise the Prophet ﷺ and order the people to obey him. After Uhud, when he deserted with 1/3 of the army, he tried to do so and some Sahaba admonished him because of his treachery. Thus he stormed out of the masjid, and upon leaving some Sahaba enquired about him, and he said “I merely wanted to support him but his companions jumped at me” So they replied “Woe to you! Go back so that Allah’s Messenger and ask Allah to forgive you. “So he replied “By Allah, I do not wish that he ask Allah to forgive me”
Refusing to repent, thinking that it is not for us is a sign of arrogance and pride, and the same characteristic that the chieftain of the hypocrites had!
Be aware also dear brothers and sisters in Islam, that, among the logical reasons behind Allaah’s love for His slaves is repentance, which is one of His attributes ‘At-Tawwaab’ (the One who accepts repentance).
We should all think that we are most in need of forgiveness above others. Let us not forget and belittle our sins, let them be at the forefront of our minds
This holds such importance, That even Habib Allah, Imam An Nabiyeen mustapha Rasool Allah ﷺ said ;
يا أيها الناس توبوا إلى الله فإني أتوب في اليوم إليه مائة مرة
Oh people! Repent to Allah, Indeed I repent to him during the day 100 times.
[Sahih Muslim Book 48, Hadith 53]
And in another narration:
أكثر من سبعين مرة
More than 70 times.
[Bukhari 5948]
Ya ibn Adam, the door of repentance is open to all and will be until the sun rises from the west.
Beware or wishful thinking that is caused by Shaithan and delusions of this finite world for, death can come suddenly, repent before its too late. May Allah ﷻ make us among those who constantly repent to Him.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
