65 TIPS TO BUILD CONNECTION WITH ALLAAH IN SALAAH

EPISODE 1️⃣3️⃣ – ACTIONS BEFORE SALAAH THAT COULD HELP ATTAIN KHUSHUU’ (cont)

🕌 28. Saying Du’aa’ between the Adhaan and the Iqaamah

Narrated Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه):
”The supplication made between the adhan and the iqahmah is not rejected.”

[Sunan Abi Dawud 521].

Within this period (adhaan and the iqaamah), a believer could maximize the opportunity available by supplicating to Allaah (ﷻ) to grant him khushuu for the prayer about to be observed and beyond.

🕌 29. Observing Nafl before Iqaamah

Narrated `Abdullah bin Mughaffal (رضي الله عنه) The prophet (ﷺ) said,
“There is a prayer between the two Adhaans (Adhaan and Iqaamah), there is a prayer between the two Adhaans.” And then while saying it the third time he added, “For the one who wants to (pray).”

[Sahih alBukhari 627].

In order to be a doer of this act, a Muslim need to be one who waits for prayer in the Masjid rather being the one who enters the Masjid only when the Iqaamah is pronounced.

🕌 30. Chasing Shaytaan away by Saying the Iqaamah

Saying the Iqaamah is a final signal for the mind to be well prepared for performing the actual Salaah.

Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) as saying:
”When shaytaan hears the call to prayer, he turns back and breaks the wind so as not to hear the call being made, but when the call is finished he turns around and distracts (the minds of those who pray), and when he hears the Iqaamah, he again runs away so as not to hear its voice and when it subsides, he comes back and distracts (the minds of those who stand for prayer)”.

[Sahih Muslim 389].

🕌 31. Not Praying when Feeling Sleepy

Anas ibn Maalik (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said:
“If any one of you feels sleepy when he is praying, he should sleep until he (is rested enough to) know what he is saying,” i.e., he should take a nap until he no longer feels drowsy.

[Reported by al-Bukhaari, no. 210].

🕌 32. Not Praying behind Someone who is Talking

The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade this; he said: “Do not pray behind one who is sleeping or one who is talking.”

[Reported by Abu Dawood, no. 694; Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 375. He said, a hasan hadeeth].

Al-Khattaabi (رحمه الله) said:
“As for praying behind people who are talking, al-Shaafa’i and Ahmad ibn Hanbal considered this to be makrooh, because their talk distracts the worshipper from his prayer.”

[‘Awn al-Ma’bood, 2/388].

Regarding praying behind someone who is sleeping, al-Bukhaari (رحمه الله) quoted the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah (رضي الله عنها) in his Saheeh, Baab al-Salaah khalf al-Naa’im that:
“The Prophet (ﷺ) used to pray whilst I was lying across from him on his bed…”

[Saheeh alBukhaari, Kitaab al-Salaah].

Mujaahid, Taawoos and Maalik (رحمه الله عنهما) thought it
makrooh to pray facing someone who was sleeping, lest he/she expose something that would distract the worshipper from his prayer.
[Fath al-Baari].
