Loving Prophet ﷺ More Than Yourself

On the Authority of Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ النَّاسِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ اسْتَوْقَدَ نَارًا، فَلَمَّا أَضَاءَتْ مَا حَوْلَهُ جَعَلَ الْفَرَاشُ وَهَذِهِ الدَّوَابُّ الَّتِي تَقَعُ فِي النَّارِ يَقَعْنَ فِيهَا، فَجَعَلَ يَنْزِعُهُنَّ وَيَغْلِبْنَهُ فَيَقْتَحِمْنَ فِيهَا، فَأَنَا آخُذُ بِحُجَزِكُمْ عَنِ النَّارِ، وَأَنْتُمْ تَقْتَحِمُونَ فِيهَا ”
My example and the example of the people is that of a man who made a fire, and when it lighted what was around it, Moths and other insects started falling into the fire. The man tried (his best) to prevent them, (from falling in the fire) but they overpowered him and rushed into the fire. The Prophet (ﷺ) added: Now, similarly, I take hold of the knots at your waist (belts) to prevent you from falling into the Fire, but you insist on falling into it.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 6483]

سبحان الله
What a powerful parable!
The Prophet ﷺ is trying to save you from the Hellfire by his example and his intercession and lead you into Jannah.

So who is more deserving of your utmost love first after Allah ﷻ?
_
As Prophet ﷺ said:
لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى أكون أحب إليه من والده وولده والناس أجمعين
None of you truly believe until I am more beloved to him than his parents, his children and all of mankind put together.
[Sahih al-Bukhari 15, Sahih Muslim 44]

And when a person reaches this stage of love for Prophet ﷺ ,
Then he can rejoice with the glad tidings,
كما قال رسول الله ﷺ
المرء مع من أحب يوم القيامة
As Prophet ﷺ said,
A person will be with whom he loves on Qiyamah.
[Sahih al-Bukhārī 5817, Sahih Muslim 2641]

How do we express our love?
- Learning his Seerah & Sunan
- Sending excessive Salawaat and Salaam upon him any time we remember Allah ﷻ and make Du’a etc.
- To implement as many Sunan from his life, into our own and to follow it and uphold it despite how society views it.
- To defend our beloved Prophet ﷺ when the enemies of islam criticise him or make a mockery of him.

May Allah ﷻ raise us close to him in Jannah.
