THE EVIL OF FABRICATED HADITH, ITS TREND ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND ITS DANGER TO THE UMMAH
EPISODE 4: CONCLUSION (FINAL EPISODE)
Scholars Opinions and Rulings
Abdul Hayyi Luknāwî said: ‘narrating fabricated ahādīth includes fabricated incidents and descriptions and is from the Akbar ul-Kabaair (the most major of the major sins) and some of the Shāfi’ī have labelled it an act of Kufr.’ [Majmū al Rasā’il, 5th volume]
Imām Nawawî said:
‘the laymen are not allowed to use a Hadīth from collections other than the Sahīhayn to prove a point or act upon it until they have verified its authenticity with a (sunnah) scholar.’
[Shar’h al Arba’îyn]
He also mentions “It is haraam to narrate a fabricated hadeeth for one who knows that it is fabricated or who thinks it most likely that it is fabricated.” [Sharh Muslim (1/71)]
Hafidh al Irāqî said:
“If one relates a Hadith not knowing its authenticity and later finds it to be authentic, he would still be sinful.”
[Al Bā’ith ‘alal Khalās min Hawādith al Qusās]
Al Asmā’ī, Al Hākîm, Imām Al Shāfi’ī and many others said:
‘Making so much as a grammatical mistake in the way a Hadīth is quoted qualifies as falling under the Hadīth of lying against Messenger of Allaah ﷺ“
Shu’bah bin al Hajjāj said:
“I would rather commit zinā than commit Tadlîys (concealing the narrator from whom one is narrating the Hadīth)” and if this was what he felt about merely doing Tadlîys, what would he have said about relating incidents and narrations that are fabricated?
Conclusion:
Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه said, the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ, said: ‘There will be at the end of time charlatan liars coming to you with narrations that you nor your fathers have heard of, so beware of them lest they misguide you and cause you tribulations’.
[Sahih Muslim, Hadith No.16]
The Prophet ﷺ was aware that this day would come;
🌐 A day where many will narrate from their whims and refer it to the Prophet ﷺ.
🌐 A day when ignorance will spread so much that people will become too lazy to seek knowledge and depend on fabricated shortcuts.
🌐 A day when lies will be galvanized, nurtured, made attractive and spread so much that it will be loved by the people than the truth.
That day isn’t tomorrow, it is this day. And only those who seek knowledge with taqwa and the love of the Prophet ﷺ (sunnah) will be saved from this great destruction.
Be wise, be safe.
💠Always make sure the Hadīth you quote or share is authentic.
💠If you do not have the capacity or facility or the knowledge to check the authenticity of a hādīth, only share hādīth from the following sources: Sahīh Bukhārī and Sahīh Muslim.
💠Regardless of how beautiful a post is if you can verify the authenticity of all but one hadith from the post, either remove that hadith before sharing or don’t share at all.
A word is enough for a wise and you’ve just been given over a thousand (excuses).
Ya Allaah! We seek refuge (in You) from the evil that descends from the sky and the evil that rises up to it. We seek refuge (in You) from the evil that is spread on earth and the evil that springs from her, and we take refuge from the evil of the tribulations of night and day, and the evil of one who visits at night except the one who brings good.
