Sacrificing Your Want and Desire

A simple example of situations, in which most of us, experience the sweetness of eeman, with or without realization are:
Waking up for fajr, attending Juma’a prayer on time, going against all odd to wake up for night prayer (tahajjud), sacrificing your want or desire for your Muslim brother and some more.

To taste the sweetness of eeman, one must have a firm belief in Allaah’s (ﷻ) existence, having a firm belief in Allaah as the only Supreme Being and Deity Who is worthy of worship. One must put his full trust in Allaah and accept Him as his Lord and Master (Rabb). Thus the statement, I am pleased with Allaah as my Lord, (Radiitu Bil-Lahi Rabba).

Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ), said, “Whoever would love to taste the flavor of faith, let him love a person only for the sake of Allaah Almighty.”

[Musnad Aḥmad 7907]

In another hadith narrated by Anas (رضي الله عنه):
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith:

  1. The one to whom Allaah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else.
  2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allaah’s sake.
  3. Who hates to revert to Atheism (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire.”

[Sahih al-Bukhari 2 hadith 16]

Have you ever felt angry, bored, frustrated, and when you heard, or listened to some verses from the Qur’an or Hadeeths of the Prophet (ﷺ), you suddenly calmed down, and all of a sudden, such verses sounded as if they were descended for the first time? That’s exactly one of the instances a believer experiences the sweetness of eeman.

If you ever experienced that; then, you are mentioned in the Glorious Qur’an where Allaah (ﷻ) says:

And [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allaah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allaah. But those who believe are stronger in love for Allaah. And if only they who have wronged would consider [that] when they see the punishment, [they will be certain] that all power belongs to Allaah and that Allaah is severe in punishment.

(Al Baqarah 2:165)

May Allaah (ﷻ) protect our eemaan from any satanic influences.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
