To Repent is to be Successful
Allah ﷻ says
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ سُوٓءًا أَوْ يَظْلِمْ نَفْسَهُۥ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرِ ٱللَّهَ يَجِدِ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا
And whoever does evil or wrongs himself but afterwards seeks Allah’s forgiveness, he will find Allah Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
[4:110]

Ali bin Abi Talhah said that Ibn Abbas commented about this Ayah, “Allah informs His servants of His forgiveness, forbearing generosity and expansive mercy. So whoever commits a sin, whether minor or major,
ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرِ اللّهَ يَجِدِ اللّهَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
but afterwards seeks Allah’s forgiveness, he will find Allah Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful
..even if his sins were greater than the heavens, the earth and the mountains.”
_ Abu Musa reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said ; “I never start a new day but that I seek forgiveness from Allah one hundred times during it.” [Al-Sunan al-Kubrá lil-Nasā’ī 10202, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Albani]
Ali ibn Abi Talib رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Verily, Allah is astonished at a servant when he says:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ إِنِّي قَدْ ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي إِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
There is no God but You, I have wronged myself so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.
Allah (then) says: My servant acknowledges that he has a Lord who forgives and punishes.”
[Al-Mustadrak ‘alá al-Ṣaḥīḥayn 2482, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Albani]

The key to purifying yourself in the Dunya, is to repent to Allah ﷻ sincerely and with conviction and the intention to never do it again!
_
To repent is to be successful!
Because then the Shaytaan is driven back on multiple fronts!
- He failed to stop you from repentance for the sin he tricked you into doing!
- He failed in keeping that sin held against you!
- He runs away from your repentance and your remembrance of Allah ﷻ!

Strike Shaytaan back and strike Hard!
_
May Allah ﷻ forgive all of us and grant us success in this world and in the hereafter.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
