EPISODE 1⃣ – AL-JUMLATUL MUFEEDAH (THE COMPLETE SENTENCE)
The Arabic grammar is a complex but easy concept that shows the individual parts of speech in the Arabic language. The coming together of the various parts of speech results in the production of a complete sentence, which is known as Al-jumlatul Mufeedah.
In English language, the composition of a sentence is usually in the form; “subject+ verb+ object”. Then there could be prepositions and other parts of speech. That’s the same with the Arabic language.
Any arrangement of words that makes complete sense is called Al-jumlatul Mufeedah. It is also known as Kalaam. It can consist of two words, or more, and every word in the sentence is a component of the sentence (i.e they are the building blocks of the sentence).
Examples of Al-jumlatul Mufeedah:
١. البستان جميل
- The garden is beautiful
٢. ركب إبراهيم السيارة
- Ibrahim rode the car
٣. أكل الولد الطعام
- The boy ate the food
٤. شربتُ الماء
- I drank water
٥. قرأ الكتاب
- He read the book
Kalaam consists of three components:
1. Al-Ism – الإسم
Otherwise known as Noun/Adjective. It is a name given to a person, animal, place, plants and other things. For example,
-Names of people
إبراهيم (Ibraheem) موسى (Musa)
-Names of animals
أسد (lion)، خروف (sheep)
-Names of places
البيت (house)، المسجد (Mosque)
-Names of plants
عشب (grass)، شجرة النخيل (palm tree)
-Names of inanimate objects
القلم (pen)، كرسي (chair)
– They usually begin the sentences and begin with either Alif and laam (ال) and one dummah (ُ ). For example:
الكتابُ The Book
OR
– No Alif and laam (ال) and dummatain (two dummahs), (ٌ ). For example:
كتابٌ (Book)
– In some cases, some names do not obey the rules stated above. These names do not obey the rules because they are not Arabic names. For example:
موسى (Musa)، عيسى (Eesa)
To be continued إن شاء الله
