Ponder Over the Ayat of Allah ﷻ

Allah ﷻ says in Surah An-Najm
أَفَمِنْ هَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ
Do you then wonder at this recitation
Meaning, out of doubt.
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ
And you laugh and do not weep
Meaning, you laugh at it and mock and you don’t weep just as those who believe weep.
وَأَنْتُمْ سَامِدُونَ
Whilst persisting in heedlessness
فَاسْجُدُواْ لِلَّهِ وَاعْبُدُواْ
So fall you down in prostration to Allah and worship Him.
[53:59-62]
Narrated by Abdullah bin Mas`ud:
The Prophet ﷺ recited Surat-an-Najm (53) and prostrated while reciting it and all the people prostrated and a man amongst the people took a handful of stones or earth and raised it to his face and said, “This is sufficient for me. Later on I saw him killed as a non-believer.”
[Sahih Al-Bukhari 1070]

سبحان الله
Let us contemplate on these great event!
By the power of the Qur’an, everybody save 1 was compelled into Sujood in sheer awe!
_
The Jinn, The Mushrikeen and the Mu’mineen!
And we are among the Mu’mineen!
_
Yet, our hearts have hardened like the hearts of Bani Isra’eel after they saw a miracle of Allah ﷻ.
ثُمَّ قَسَت قُلُوبُكُم بَعَدَ ذَلِكَ فَهِيَ كَالحِجَارَةِ اَو أَشَدُّ قَسوَة
Then your hearts became hard after that like stone or harder.
[2:74]

We see, hear and read the Miracle of Allah ﷻ, the Qur’an!
The same Qur’an Allah ﷻ says
لَو أَنزَلنَا هَذَا القُرآنَ عَلٰى جَبَلٍ لَّرَأَيتَهُ خَاشِعًا مُتَصَدِّعًا مِّن خَشيَةِ الله
Had we revealed this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have surely seen it tremble and crumble out of the fear of Allah.
[59:21]

This same Qur’an!
Our hearts have become full of sickness and darkness and it has made it harder than the mountain!
For the mountain would have crumbled out of fear,
Yet we are not shaken.
_
Ponder over the Ayaat!
How much do we laugh? Do we mock? How much do we doubt?
How we are distracted while the Qur’an is recited!
_
We need to return to the Qur’an!
And only by understanding it and reciting it will we ever feel its words penetrate our hearts and have an effect on them!
_
أَلاَ بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
Indeed with the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest!
[13:28]

May Allah ﷻ make us among the people of the Qur’an and grant us forgiveness.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
