We Do Not Kill Time, Time Kills Us!

Allah ﷻ says
وَالعَصْرِ

By time

إِنَّ الإِنْسَانَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ

Surely Mankind is in Loss!
[103:1-2]
_
Allah ﷻ swears by the time, that mankind is at a loss!
Because time can never increase for a person, it is only ever decreasing.
_
Death doesn’t stop because the guy is on life support.
And if a person defies death somehow, then the appointed time for him has not come yet.
_
We are younger and we are stronger and we should make use of this,
_
Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه narrates that Prophet ﷺ said “Take advantage of five matters before five other matters:
1️⃣Your youth, before you become old;
2️⃣Your health, before you fall sick;
3️⃣Your richness, before you become poor;
4️⃣Your free time before you become busy;
5️⃣Your life, before your death.”
[Shu’ab al-Imān 9767, Grade: Sahih]
_
We should heed this Prophetic Advice, because life is indeed short!
_
Ibn Al Qayyim رحمه الله says: “Wasting time is worse than death because death seperates you from this world whereas wasting time seperates you from Allah”.
سبحان الله
We have to understand,
We do not kill time, time kills us!
_
And Allah ﷻ describes the temporary nature of this Dunya,

وَلَلاٌّخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ الاٍّولَى

And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present.
[93:4]
Meaning, the abode of the Hereafter is better for you than this current abode. For this reason the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to be the most abstinent of the people concerning the worldly things, and he was the greatest of them in his disregard for worldly matters.

Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, “There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.”
[Sahih al-Bukhārī 6049]

What we learn is that the Life in Dunya is Short!
And the hereafter is eternal!
And earning a good abode means working hard.
Not wasting time sitting idle.

Learn your Deen!
Even if it means reading the Tafseer of one Ayah.
_
The time for playing is gone!
Forget the girls and boys, forget the adulation of wealth, submit to Allah ﷻ and use your life wisely!
_
May Allah ﷻ make us among those who use their time in the most beneficial manner.
