Focus on your Deen

A poet sang:

اتيت القبور فناديتها

I came to the graves and I called out to them,

فاين المعظم و المحتقر

Where is the honoured and the disgraced,

تفانوا جميعا و ما مخبر

All have perished and there isn’t any informer,

و ماتوا جميعا و مات الخبر

And all have died along with the mentions [of them]
_ Everything comes to an end. How many times do we walk with arrogance? How are we arrogant when tomorrow we will be under the earth?
No matter how great, wealthy or powerful they were,
They couldn’t escape the decree of Allah ﷻ!
They lie in graves.
Their graves the same as the grave of the poor person they once ruled!
Whether a tomb encapsulates them or not!
They still lay under the earth, at the mercy of the Angels of questioning, at the mercy of the grave and its punishment!
_
كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ

Every soul shall taste death.
[3:185]
_
Remember this Ayah! And repeat it constantly!
And Wallahi! You will find it humbling!
And follow the prophetic advice!

اكثروا من ذكر هادم اللذات

Increase in the remembrance of the destroyer of pleasures!
[Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2307, Grade: Sahih]
_
Because we will die one day!
We will only take what we have in deeds!
None of the wealth will ransom us,
Nor will the knowledge that did not benefit in Dunya, benefit in the grave!
_
We will die and be forgotten by those who knew us!
Forgotten by the same Dunya we sold ourselves for!
_
So then, does it make sense, to sacrifice our Akhirah in order to earn the pleasures of that which will leave us on our deathbed, and will also itself perish?!
No!
_
We were born and will die helpless!
So we have no room for arrogance!
Let us focus on the Deen, rather than the Dunya!
