Supplicate for Steadfastness
Allah ﷻ says:
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ ۖ
O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life.
[8:24]

This Ayah applies to all of us! We ignore the call of Allah ﷻ and His Messenger ﷺ on a daily basis via our Ibadah!

Furthermore, how can we answer the call of Allah ﷻ and His Messenger ﷺ when we read nothing from Qur’an or the Sunnah?

Allah ﷻ continues the ayah:
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ ٱلْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِۦ
And know that Allah comes in between a person and his heart.
[8:24]
As Suddi رحمه الله said “Prevents one self from his own heart, so he will neither believe nor disbelieve except by His leave.”

In a Hadith from Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه:
The Prophet ﷺ used to often say these words,
يا مقلب القلوب، ثبت قلبي على دينك
O You who changes the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion.
We said, “O Allah’s Messenger! We believed in you and in what you brought us. Are you afraid for us?”
He ﷺ said “Yes, for the hearts are between two of Allah’s Fingers, He changes them (as He wills)”
[At-Tirmidhi]

Shaddad ibn Aws رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say in his prayer:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الثَّبَاتَ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَالْعَزِيمَةَ عَلَى الرُّشْدِ وَأَسْأَلُكَ شُكْرَ نِعْمَتِكَ وَحُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ قَلْبًا سَلِيمًا وَلِسَانًا صَادِقًا وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا تَعْلَمُ
“O Allah, I ask You to make me firmly grounded in the matter and determined upon right guidance. I ask You to make me grateful for Your blessings and to help me worship You in the best manner. I ask You for a pure heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the good You know, I seek refuge in You from the evil You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for what You know.”
[Sunan al-Nasā’ī 1304]

Should we not be grateful then, that Allah ﷻ intervened between us and our hearts, and blessed us with Islam, & gave us Imaan?

Abu Shurayh al-Khuza’i reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to them one day and he said, “Rejoice! Do you not witness that there is no God but Allah and I am the messenger of Allah?” They said yes. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Verily, this Quran is a rope. One end is in the hand of Allah and the other end is in your hands. Hold fast to it, for you will never be led astray or ruined ever again.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ Ibn Ḥibbān 122, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Albani]

May Allah ﷻ keep us steadfast and keep is upon the straight ways and practices.
