A Temporary Delusion

Allah ﷻ says
وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا مَتَٰعُ ٱلْغُرُورِ
And the life of this world is only a deceiving enjoyment
[3:185]
Meaning, this life is only a form of enjoyment that deceives those who incline to it. Yet, in reality, this life is insignificant as compared to the Hereafter.

Allah ﷻ also says
كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ▪ وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ
But no! You love the present worldly life! And you neglect the hereafter!
[75:20-21]
Meaning, the only thing that has caused them to reject the Day of Judgement and oppose the true revelation and the Mighty Qur’an Allah ﷻ revealed to His Messenger is that their only concern is the present worldly life. They are preoccupied and distracted from the Hereafter.

Allah ﷻ warns us, He explicitly states and tells us time and time again, this world is nothing but a temporary delusion!
_
He ﷻ talks about those who only follows their desires
أَفَرَءَيْتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ
Have you seen him who has taken as his god his own vain desire.
[45:23]
Meaning, whatever he admires and sees as good in his own desires becomes his religion and his way.
أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلاً
Would you then be a guardian over him.
أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ
Or do you think that most of them hear or understand
إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَالْأَنْعَامِ ۖ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا
They are only like cattle — nay, they are even farther astray from the path.
[25:43-44]

Our Desires are the Dunya and its pleasures!
And to let go of it is to be saved from it!
_
The salaf were able to push away the Dunya and only be concerned with Al Akhirah.
This is why Prophet ﷺ said:
كن في الدينا كانك غريب
Be in this Dunya, as if you are a stranger.
[Sahih Bukhari 6053]
_
And Prophet ﷺ said: “Islam began as something strange and will revert to being strange as it began, so give glad tidings to the strangers.”
[Sahih Muslim 145]
_
In a time where there is much Fitnah, when there is much Killing and Destruction in the Muslim Ummah,
We must be on the path of Truth! The Straight Path.
_
May Allah ﷻ make us among those who are firmly guided on the straight path and protect us from every fitna.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
