Allah ﷻ loves those who repent and those who turn back to Him ﷻ.
As Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلتَّوَّبِينَ وَيُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.
[2:222]
Allah ﷻ changes the sins of the sinner into good deeds when they Repent.
As Allah ﷻ says
إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلٗا صَٰلِحٗا فَأُوْلَٰئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمۡ حَسَنَٰتٖۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمٗا
Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
[25:70]

Prophet ﷺ used to do istighfaar upwards of 70-100 times a day!

This was the example set forth to us by the most beloved to Allah ﷻ!
Does it not make sense then, to follow his footsteps ﷺ?

And just think, if Allah ﷻ loves a person… What his life would be like?
In a Hadith Qudsi Prophet ﷺ said that
If Allah loves a person, He calls Jibreel عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ, saying, ‘I love so and so, O Jibreel love him’
So Jibreel would love him and then would make an announcement in the Heavens: ‘Allah has loved so and-so therefore you should love him also.’ So all the dwellers of the Heavens would love him, and then he is granted the pleasure of the people on the earth.”
[See Sahih al-Bukhari 7485]

This is what the love of Allah ﷻ brings.
But not only this, but don’t you think that if Allah ﷻ loves our repentance, He’ll increase us in the other traits He loves?
Where Allah ﷻ says
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.
[2:195]
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
Indeed, Allah loves those who fear Him.
[3:76]
وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلصَّبِرِينَ
And Allah loves the steadfast.
[3:146]
وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
And Allah loves the doers of good.
[3:134]
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلِينَ
Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him]
[3:159]
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُقۡسِطِينَ
Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
[5:42]

سبحان الله
Ask and evaluate yourselves!
How many of these traits that Allah ﷻ said he loves do you have?
Do you constantly repent?
Do you have Taqwa?
Are you among those who do good?
Do you have complete Tawakkul (Reliance) in Allah ﷻ?
Are you fair and just?
Are you among the Patient?
If not..
Make an effort to have these characteristics

May Allah ﷻ make us among those who He ﷻ loves and grant us Jannatul Firdaus.
