EPISODE 3️⃣: DUTIES OF THE ANGELS (cont’d)
- Angels entrusted with special duties.
Among them are:
a. Angel Jibreel (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ): The greatest, most honorable and virtuous of all the angels. He is responsible for bringing the revelation, which brings life to the heart.
b. Angel Mikaa’eel: He is responsible for the raindrops that fall from the sky, which brings life to the earth after its death.
c. Angel Israafeel: He is responsible for blowing the Trumpet, which will bring life to the bodies on the Day of Resurrection.
These are the greatest Angels due to the magnitude of their duties.
- There are also Angels in charge of recording the deeds of the son of Adam (i.e humans).
Every human has two Angels that are responsible over him – an Angel on his right side recording his good deeds, and another on his left side recording his bad deeds.
Allāh (ﷻ) says:
▪️ إِذۡ يَتَلَقَّى ٱلۡمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٞ
▪️ مَّا يَلۡفِظُ مِن قَوۡلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيۡهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٞ
▪️ When the two receivers [i.e., recording angels] receive, seated on the right and on the left.
▪️ He [i.e., man] utters no word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].
[Qaf: 50:17-18]
- There are also Angels responsible for protecting humans from perils.
Allāh (ﷻ) entrusts Angels to guard and protect man from dangers during his lifetime, which Allāh (ﷻ) has ordained for him.
Allāh (ﷻ) says :
لَهُۥ مُعَقِّبَٰتٌ مِّنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ يَحْفَظُونَهُۥ مِنْ أَمْرِ ٱللَّهِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا۟ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْۗ وَإِذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ سُوٓءًا فَلَا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥۚ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَالٍ
For him [i.e., each one] are successive [angels] before and behind him who protect him by the decree of Allaah.
[Ar-Ra’d 13:11]
- There are also Angels that have responsibilities in this universe that only Allāh (ﷻ) has knowledge of.
There are Angels in charge of the seas and Angels in charge of the days. There are Angels responsible for the winds and Angels in charge of carrying out many other duties.
All of the events that occur in the universe and which constantly transpire within it on a daily basis are only by Allāh’s (ﷻ) decree of them. As for the Angels, they carry out whatever task Allāh (ﷻ) orders them to execute.
Ya Allaah, strengthen our heart to believe and guide us towards the path (Jannah) that encompasses the merciful Angels.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
