What Does It Mean?

Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an

وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ

And do not disgrace me on the Day all will be resurrected—

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ

the Day when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit.

إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ

Only those who come before Allah with a pure heart ˹will be saved˺.”
[26:87-89]

Ponder over what Allah ﷻ says praising Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ

وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ

And indeed, among his [Nuh] kind was Abraham,

إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ

˹Remember˺ when he came to his Lord with a pure heart,
[37:83-84]

Have you ever wondered why Ibrahim عليه السلام was titled Khaleel Al Allah (Friend of Allah)
His Imaan & Tawakkul in Allah ﷻ was such,
That he refused the help of Angel Jibreel عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ when he was thrown in the fire saying حسبي الله و نعم الوكيل

He was able to leave his wife & son in the barren desert of Makkah and leave without saying a word.

He was willing to sacrifice his own son, without hesitation when Allah ﷻ ordered!

Thus Allah ﷻ describes his heart as pure.
Because he obeyed without questioning the purpose nor the end goal.

And what is a pure heart?
The Mufasireen mention, a heart that is free from Shirk and Hypocrisy!

And the Prophet ﷺ describes
“Among the signs of a hypocrite are three, even if he fasts and prays and claims to be a Muslim: when he speaks he lies, when he gives a promise he breaks it, and when he is trusted he betrays.”
[Sahih al-Bukhārī 33, Sahih Muslim 59]

And of Shirk,
The Prophet ﷺ said “What I fear for you the most is the minor shirk, that is Showing off. Allah will say on the Day of Judgement when He is rewarding the people for their actions: Go to those for whom you did it for in the world then see if you find the reward with them”
[Al-Musnad 27742, Classed as Sahih by al-Albaani]

May Allah ﷻ purify our hearts and may He ﷻ protect us from shirk and hypocrisy.
