Allah ﷻ says in Surah Baqarah

وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ أَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِلَّهِ

But those who believe, love Allah more (than anything else).
[2:165]

Because these believers love Allah ﷻ, know His greatness, revere Him, believe in His Oneness, then they do not associate anything or anyone with Him in the worship.

Prophet ﷺ said in a part of a Hadith:

وَإِنَّ فِي الْجَسَدِ مُضْغَةً إِذَا صَلَحَتْ صَلَحَ الْجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ وَإِذَا فَسَدَتْ فَسَدَ الْجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ أَلَا وَهِيَ الْقَلْبُ

“Verily, in the body there is a piece of flesh which if it is sound then the entire body is sound, and if corrupt then the entire body is corrupt. No doubt it is the heart.”
[Sahih Bukhari 52]

We all say we Love Allah ﷻ!
By Allah, if I was to ask you if you Loved Him ﷻ, nobody would say No!
_
But as the Hadith states, if your heart is pure in its love, in its Imaan, in its Sincerity for Allah ﷻ then the actions will also be pure.
And if isn’t then the effect will be negative on the actions!
_
The Sahaba are the greatest examples of Love!
_
Imagine the test of Love for Allah ﷻ and His Prophet ﷺ for Abu Ubaydah رضي الله عنه when his Father confronted him at the battle of Badr!
He had to kill his own father for the sake of Allah ﷻ.
_
Imagine when Sa’ad Ibn Abi Waqqas رضي الله عنه was tested through his Mother! Who swore to not eat nor drink till he renounced Islam!
Yet he said after 3 days, “Oh Mother if you had a hundred lives and perished in front of me, I would not renounce my religion!”

Imagine having your love for Allah ﷻ and his Prophet ﷺ tested by having to make Hijrah to a distant land, leaving Security, Family, Wealth, Makkah all behind!
_
Yet we struggle to make Hijrah from the path of sins!
_
Ibn Al Qayyim رحمه الله said “If you want to see a persons heart, then listen to his tongue”
_
This applies to all of our limbs!
We show what we harbour through actions!
_
If we truly love Allah ﷻ,
We should reflect on how receptive we are to the concept of sacrifice!
_

Where does your heart lean when choosing between Allah ﷻ and your own desires?
