Allah ﷻ says
وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا مَتَٰعُ ٱلْغُرُورِ
And what is the life of this world except a temporary delusion?
[57:20]

Qatadah رحمه الله says:
“Life is a delight. By Allah, other than Whom there is no deity, it will soon fade away from its people. Therefore, take obedience to Allah from this delight, if you can. Verily, there is no power except from Allah.”
_
The Prophet ﷺ lived in a small room, to the extent that it comes in a Hadith where A’isha رضي الله عنها narrated about the Prophet ﷺ’s night prayer and the size of their room, “my legs would extend in front of him” (Due to a lack of space)
_
With his status, he could have easily taken the house of a rich Sahabi or asked them to make him a big house,
But he didn’t!

As Allah ﷻ says about Sulayman عليه السلام
فَقَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ ٱلْخَيْرِ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّى حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِٱلْحِجَابِ
He said: “I did love the good (i.e., horses) instead of remembering my Lord” till the time was over, and (the sun) had set.
[38:32]

The Salaf and Mufasireen say that He was so busy looking at the Horses he missed his Prayer out of forgetfulness.
_
This tells us, The Dunya is a Distraction and a Fitnah!
Yet we are so attached to it, we can not regress our lifestyle back to simplicity.
_
How many of us would sacrifice the House because there is interest upon it?
Sacrifice the extra wages because the shifts make you miss Salah?
Sacrifice the TV because of its Harmful effect?
_
And if you want to know your level of Love for Islam, let yourself reflect on how many choices you made which were against your Islam, and how many were with Islam.

Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would spend several nights in a row with an empty stomach, and his family would not find anything for dinner. Most of their bread was made from barley.
[Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2360, Grade: Sahih]
_
Umar رضي الله عنه reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) spend the entire day suffering from hunger. The Prophet could not find even the worst dates with which to fill his stomach.
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2978]
_
But yet, Salah was the coolness of the Prophet ﷺ eyes, above anything else in Dunya.
Because Prophet ﷺ was only concerned with Al Akhirah and getting Jannah,
_
He ﷺ is our role model!
May Allah ﷻ make us among those who don’t get bamboozled by this Dunya and may He ﷻ make us among those strive for the Akhirah.
آمِيْن يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينْ
