THE REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAH ﷻ

A Way For True Contentment

Allah ﷻ is the one who created the hearts, and He knows what makes it happy and content and what makes it sad and anxious.

Allah ﷻ says:

أَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ

Does the one who created not know, whilst he is the most kind, the all knowing
[67:14]

Allah ﷻ informs us in the Qur’an that the Heart will never be content and happy and will never be among those who are in happiness, if it doesn’t become closer to Allah ﷻ, if it isn’t filled with the remembrance of Allah ﷻ.

Allah ﷻ says:

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ

Those who believe and their hearts find contentment with the remembrance of Allah.

أَلَا بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ ٱلْقُلُوبُ

Certainly, through the remembrance of Allah do hearts find tranquility.
[13:28]

_ Allah ﷻ is reminding us with this Ayah that happiness is not found anywhere, nor is contentment except with Allah ﷻ and his remembrance, through Adkhaar, Du’a, Qur’an recitation, Salah.

Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari رضي الله عنه reported: The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The example of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not remember Him is like the example of a living and a dead person.”
[Sahih al-Bukhārī 6044]

The remembrance of Allah ﷻ brings a slave closer to Him,
A sincere slave with the name of Allah ﷻ on his tongue will not be able to bring himself to talk filth in the same breath,
A sincere slave with Allah ﷻ on his mind, would not get distracted in Salah,
Nor would he find boredom in reciting the words of Allah ﷻ!

Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Those in solitude have raced ahead, who are absorbed in the remembrance of Allah. Remembrance has lifted their burdens and they will come on the Day of Resurrection weightless.”
[Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3596, Grade:Hasan (fair) according to Al-Tirmidhi]

And the best Dhikr, is Qur’an!
And the best action performed within which the best Dhikr is recited is Salah!
So stand for Salah! Elongate it with longer Surahs and more Adkhaar than just the bare minimum!

May Allah ﷻ make us among those who constantly remember Allah ﷻ.
