LIVING BY THE QUR’AN

If only we did what the jinns have done, we would be more fearful and serving of our Lord.

Allaah (ﷻ) says,

وَإِذْ صَرَفْنَآ إِلَيْكَ نَفَرًا مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ يَسْتَمِعُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرُوهُ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنصِتُوا۟ۖ فَلَمَّا قُضِىَ وَلَّوْا۟ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِم مُّنذِرِينَ

And [mention, O Muhammad], when We directed to you a few of the jinn, listening to the Qur’an. And when they attended it, they said, “Listen quietly.” And when it was concluded, they went back to their people as warners.

[Al-Ahqaf 46:29]

When the Jinns heard the Qur’an, they took hold of its message and passed across its warnings to others.

قَالُوا۟ يَٰقَوْمَنَآ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا كِتَٰبًا أُنزِلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مُوسَىٰ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ وَإِلَىٰ طَرِيقٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

They said, “O our people, indeed we have heard a [recited] Book revealed after Moses confirming what was before it which guides to the truth and to a straight path.

يَٰقَوْمَنَآ أَجِيبُوا۟ دَاعِىَ ٱللَّهِ وَءَامِنُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُجِرْكُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

O our people, respond to the Messenger of Allaah and believe in him; Allaah will forgive for you your sins and protect you from a painful punishment.

وَمَن لَّا يُجِبْ دَاعِىَ ٱللَّهِ فَلَيْسَ بِمُعْجِزٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءُۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ

But he who does not respond to the Caller of Allaah will not cause failure [to Him] upon earth, and he will not have besides Him any protectors. Those are in manifest error.”

[Al-Ahqaf 46:30 – 32]

So when the Qur’an is being recited to you, think about its message and not just listen to it like it is some instrument of amusement.
Ponder upon it and then implement it into your daily lives.

Allaah (ﷻ) says about those who neglect the Qur’an:

وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِى فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ مَعِيشَةً ضَنكًا وَنَحْشُرُهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَعْمَىٰ

And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.”

قَالَ رَبِّ لِمَ حَشَرْتَنِىٓ أَعْمَىٰ وَقَدْ كُنتُ بَصِيرًا

He will say, “My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?”

قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ أَتَتْكَ ءَايَٰتُنَا فَنَسِيتَهَاۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ تُنسَىٰ

[Allaah] will say, “Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten.”

[Ta Ha 20:124]

SubhanaaLlaah!

Indeed those who neglect the warnings of the Qur’an are in manifest error!

May Allaah (ﷻ) make us from those who take heed.
