EPISODE 1️⃣: Introduction: Why Do People Protest?
A protest is an action taken by an individual or group to draw attention to an issue or a cause they believe in, usually when they feel an injustice has occurred.
Protesting can be in the form of boycotting products, joining protest groups, or even breaking the law and going to prison.
People usually protest because they feel they have no other way to make their voices heard. It is a means of attracting media attention and making other people aware of the issue.
There are also non-violent means of protests which involve actions that do not cause harm to others or damage property. These can be signing a petition or boycotting specific goods and services or more direct action like street marches, sit-ins (occupying a building or space), strike actions or causing disruption such as blocking roads.
These actions are problematic for individuals and companies affected by protests, however, no direct physical harm is caused to people.
When people feel that the leaders are oppressive, their rights are being neglected, and they are not being adequately catered for, they take to street protests to air their views and make their voices heard.

But Is This the Way of Reform in Islam?
➖➖➖
We know that people protest because they feel it’s the only way to get their voices heard. But what does Islam rule on the issue?
Is it permissible or not? What are the Islam-approved ways by which reform can be achieved?
This short series will take us through the rulings on protests in Islam, as taken from the short ebook series, “Rulings of Protests,” by our esteemed scholar from Nigeria, Ustaadh Ibrahim AbdurRauf Aboo Naasir (حفظه الله).
May Allaah (ﷻ) make it a beneficial one for each and every one of us.
