The Command to Lower the Gaze and Control the Speech
قُل لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا۟ مِنْ أَبْصَٰرِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوا۟ فُرُوجَهُمْۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَزْكَىٰ لَهُمْۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ
Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allaah is Acquainted with what they do.
(An-Nur 24:30)
It is now a norm to most of us to look and discuss things which are not beneficial to us either in this dunya or in the akhira.
The above verse of the Holy Qur’an is a command from Allaah (ﷻ) to His believing servants to lower their gaze from looking at things that have been prohibited for them. They should look only at what is permissible for them to look at and lower their gaze at what is forbidden for them to look at; and if it happens that a person’s gaze unintentionally falls upon something forbidden, he should immediately look away.
Narrated Jarir bin Abdullah Al-Bajali (رضي الله عنه) who said, I asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about the sudden glance and he commanded me to turn my gaze away
(Sahih Muslim 2159)
In another hadith, the Prophet (ﷺ) said concerning activities of the street.
It was narrated that Abu sa’id (رضي الله عنه) said that the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said:
Beware of sitting in the streets. They said, “O Messenger of Allaah, we have no alternative but to sit in the streets to converse with one another”, then the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said: “if you insist, then give the street its right”, they asked, what are the rights of the street, O Messenger of Allaah”, he said, “lower your gaze, return the greeting of salam, and enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil._
(Sahih al-Bukhari 2465)

Ya akhi, ya ukhti always remember and ponder these evidences from Allaah (ﷻ) and His Messenger (ﷺ) anytime you are on social media and whenever you are in gatherings.
Remember, He is Al-Alim, the Knower of all, and always try to avoid His anger at all cost.
May Allaah (ﷻ) grant us proper understanding.
