EPISODE 2️⃣ – SHARING KNOWLEDGE

Sharing knowledge follows seeking knowledge. We seek knowledge to work with it, and we work with it by using it to worship Allaah and spreading it. Sharing knowledge is one of the noblest and highly rewarded deeds by Allaah (ﷻ). Knowledge is useless when not shared because it will end up dying with its carrier.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ”Whoever comes to this masjid of mine, and only comes for a good purpose, such as to learn or to teach, his status is like that of one who fights in Jihad in the cause of Allah.” (Hasan)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever calls people to right guidance will have a reward like that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their reward in the slightest, and whoever calls people to misguidance will have a burden of sin like that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their burden in the slightest.” (Narrated by Muslim, 2674)

Therefore, teach even if it’s only a single person something beneficial, no matter how trivial it is.

Teaching others is one of the good deeds that will get us great rewards even after death. Whoever leaves behind beneficial knowledge will get rewards as long as people are still getting benefits from his knowledge.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: When the Son of Adam dies, his record of deeds will cease except in three cases: an ongoing charity, knowledge that people are benefiting from and a righteous son who invokes Allaah for him. (Sahih Muslim)

According to some scholars, the only eternal one out of the three cases listed above is knowledge. This is because the righteous child will die and the charity (in most cases) will wear out or be exhausted. But knowledge, by virtue of it being passed down from generations, will remain.

ETIQUETTES OF SHARING KNOWLEDGE
➖ ➖ ➖

Do not conceal knowledge.

Allaah (ﷻ) said to His Messenger (ﷺ) :

وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ

And do not repulse the petitioner (Ad-duha 93:10)
Which means [exegesis of the Ayah]:

“Just as you were astray and Allaah guided you, then do not scorn the one who asks for knowledge seeking to be guided.”

Also, the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever is asked about knowledge and he conceals it, Allaah will clothe him with a bridle of fire on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2649)

Give knowledge to only those who worthy of it.

Allaah says in Surah Al-A’la (87:9)

فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ

Therefore remind in case the reminder profits (is beneficial).

From here we get the etiquette of spreading knowledge, that it should not be wasted upon those who are not suitable or worthy of it.

Ali said, “You do not tell people any statement that their intellects do not grasp except that it will be a Fitnah (trial) for some of them.” He also said, “Tell people that which they know. Would you like for Allaah and His Messenger to be rejected? ”

Oh Allaah, make us benefit from what you taught us and teach us what benefits us and increase knowledge. آمين.
