Praying in the Masjid and its Rewards

Good deeds performed by a believer are not useless but rather attract rewards from Allaah (ﷻ) and any act recommended by the Prophet (ﷺ) attracts rewards from Allaah (ﷻ).

The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) made the command of performing salah in congregation in several hadiths as follows:

Narrated Ibn Umar (رضي الله عنهم) : the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said; Islam is based on five principles, To testify that none has the right to be worshiped but Allaah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allaah; Iqamat-as-salat: To perform the five (compulsory congregational) prayers….

[Sahih Bukhari,1/8(p.7 ]

If your excuse is, “prayer is prayer no matter where I perform it”, then read this Hadith,

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said,
“The group prayer is twenty-five degrees higher than the prayer in your house or the prayer in your place of business. Anyone who does wudu’ and goes to the Masjid with no other objective than to do the prayer, Allaah will raise him up a degree with every step he takes, and a wrong action will fall away from him. When he prays, the angels pray for him all the time he is in his place of prayer, ‘O Allaah! Forgive him! O Allaah! Show mercy to him!’ One of you is in the prayer as long as he is waiting for the prayer.”

[Agreed upon – Riyadus-saliheen, Hadith 1065 ]

SubhanaLlaah! Do you know the prayers of the angels are never turned down?

_
Maybe, your own excuse is always “being tired” and that stops you from going to the Masjid,

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) said, “A blind man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, ‘Messenger of Allaah, I have no guide to direct me to the Masjid.‘ He asked the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ), to make a dispensation for him allowing him to pray in his house, and he gave him that dispensation. When he turned away, he (ﷺ) called to him and said to him, ‘Do you hear the call to prayer?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Then respond to it.'”

[Muslim, Riyadus-saliheen, Hadith(1066)]

_
What else will be your excuse after knowing this hadith,

It is said ‘Amr – ibn Qays, known as Ibn Umm Maktum (رضي الله عنها), the mu’adhdhin, said, “Messenger of Allaah, there are many reptiles and wild beasts in Madina” The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ), said, “You hear ‘Come to the prayer. Come to success,’ so come.”
[Abu Dawud]

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) reported that Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ), said, “By Him in Whose hand my soul is, I seriously considered ordering someone to collect firewood, ordering the prayer to be called, appointing a man to lead the prayer and then coming up behind certain men and burning their houses down about them!”
[Agreed upon]

_
From all the above, we can see the great importance attached to offering the prayer in congregation. The Prophet didn’t grant the blind man an excuse nor was the man who fear he may be endangered by the reptiles granted any, so how about you whom Allaah has given the strength, means and sight to reach the Masjid, yet you arrogantly abandoned the congregation or worst, the prayer at whole.

Wouldn’t you reflect?

Ya Allaah, make us steadfast in the Deen and grant us deeper understanding.
