EPISODE 4️⃣4️⃣ – HISTORICAL STRUCTURES OF MAKKAH AL-MUKARRAMAH (مكة المكرمة)
Part E – Maqaam Ibraaheem (مَـقَـام إِبْـرَاهِـيْـم)
⚫ The Station of Ibraaheem (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) is an ancient stone believed to be a lift on which the Prophet Ibraaheem (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) stood upon while building the Ka’aba after the building reached some height.
⚫ The imprint on the stone is believed to be the foot of Nabiy Ibraaheem (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ).
⚫ The actual stone inside the casing is square shaped and measures 40 cm in length and width, and 20 cm in height.
⚫ The stone is enclosed inside a golden-metal that stood directly opposite the Bab at-Tawbah golden gate.

THE HATĪM
🧲 Also called Hijr Ismail – (حجر إسماعيل)
🧲 The Hatīm is a low semicircular, crescent shaped wall sitting opposite, but not connected to, the north-west wall of the Kaaba.
🧲 The space between the Hatīm and the Ka’aba was originally part of the Ka’aba, and is thus not entered during the tawaf. Thus, the Hatīm itself is part of the Ka’aba.
🧲 It was learnt that the Hatīm was left sitting alone because the Quraysh ran out of funds during the reconstruction of the Ka’aba.
ʻAisha (رضي الله عنها) narrated:
I asked the Prophet (ﷺ) whether the round wall (near Ka’aba) was part of the Ka’aba. The Prophet (ﷺ) replied in the affirmative. I further said, “What is wrong with them, why have they not included it in the building of the Ka’aba?” He said, “Don’t you see that your people (Quraish) ran short of money (so they could not include it inside the building of Ka’aba)?…”

🧲 The Prophet (ﷺ) desired to rebuild the Ka’aba into its original shape, however, due to some deterrence, the Prophet (ﷺ) couldn’t embark on his desires.
Narrated ʻAisha (رضي الله عنها):
“that Allaah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said to her, “Do you know that when your people (Quraish) rebuilt the Ka’aba, they decreased it from its original foundation laid by Ibraaheem (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ)?” I said, “O Allaah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Why don’t you rebuild it on its original foundation laid by Ibraaheem (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ)?” He replied, “Were it not for the fact that your people are close to the pre-Islamic period of ignorance (i.e they have recently become Muslims) I would have done so.”…

In the year 65 AH, Abdullah bin Zubair (رضي الله عنه) had the Ka’bah constructed according to this wish of the Prophet (ﷺ).
