Death is Fast Approaching

Al Hasan Al Basri رحمه الله said:
“Indeed Death has disgraced the affairs of the Dunya and by Allah! There is no excessive delight in it for the sound intellectual person”

What powerful words from Al Hasan Al Basri رحمه الله
But what does he mean by this?
Allah ﷻ says
إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَرُ أُولُوا الأَبَاب
Only those who understand would remember.
[13:19]
_
There is no intellectually sound person in the Dunya that delights and is pleased excessively in the Dunya because he remembers that it is short and temporary and no matter how good life becomes its ephemeral nature reminds him of death, his grave, his Abode in the hereafter.
_
And this very quality of Death serves as a reminder for us in the Qur’an and Sunnah.
Allah ﷻ says
كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ
Every soul shall taste death
[3:185]
And
أَينَمَا تَكُونُوا يُدرِكُمُ المَوتُ وَ لَو كُنتُم فِي بُرُوجٍ مُشَيَّدَة
Wherever you are, Death will come to you even if you were in tall high structures.
[4:78]
And
قُل إِنَّ المَوتَ الَّذِي تَفِرُّونَ مِنهُ فَإِنَّهُ مُلَاقِيكُم
Say indeed the death which you flee from, indeed it will meet you.
[62:8]

And in the Sunnah
Prophet ﷺ said
أكثروا ذكر هاذم اللذات فما ذكره عبد قط وهو في ضيق إلا وسعه عليه و لا ذكره وهو في سعة إلا ضيقه عليه
“Remember often the destroyer of pleasures. Never does a servant remember it during hardship except that it will become easier for him, and never does he not remember it during ease except that it will become harder for him.”
[Ibn Hibban]

Ya Ibn Adam! Remember Death so that your head doesn’t remain in the clouds of heedlessness and indulgence!
_
Ya Ibn Adam! Death is approaching fast, while you sit idle waiting! Do not let it meet you while you are idle!
_
May Allah ﷻ grant us a good death and save us from punishment in the Dunya and Akhirah and grant us Jannah Al Firdous.
