QUESTION 2️⃣5️⃣
What is the ruling on the fasting person using oral or nasal inhalers out of necessity, like the one who has asthma?
There is no problem in using an inhaler if it is out of necessity. If it is possible to delay using it until the evening, this is better and safer.
Otherwise, it is permissible if one is compelled to use it, based on the statement of Allaah (ﷻ) in Sūrah Al-An’ām:
وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُم مَّا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا مَا ٱضْطُرِرْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ
…He has explained to you in detail what is forbidden for you, which excludes that which is (done) out of compulsion and necessity.
(Al An’aam, 6:119)
Besides, it does not equate to eating and drinking. It is similar to taking a blood sample or an injection that has no nutritional value.
