﷽
It is Time to Change
Ramadan has come, so come close my beloved brother
To the most merciful and follow the Prophet
For this is a month of fasting, so seize it
Hasten the journey to Jannah by running
How many of those who fast are absent from us?
So is there not a lesson if you are living?
Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
كُتِبَ عَلَيكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبلِكُم لَعَلَّكُم تَتَّقُونَ
Prescribed upon you is fasting just as it was prescribed upon those before you, so that you may gain Taqwa
[2:183]
Ramadan has come and we must ask ourselves, are we fasting, or are we starving ourselves?
Fasting and making use of Ramadan entails obedience to Allah ﷻ and his Prophet ﷺ and the increase in Ibadah while simultaneously abstaining from sin.
Starving ourselves is literally the outward display of fasting, while our body disobeys Allah ﷻ and displeases him,
And at the end of the fast, nothing has changed, except an increase or decrease in a persons weight.
Narrated Abu Huraira :
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (ie Allah will not accept his fasting.)”
[Sahih Bukhari 1903]
So reflect!
What was our intention entering this month,
If it was wrong, it is still early and we should change it!
Remember, the person in this month who completes the Qur’an again and again and does extra acts of worships, but commits major sins, he is actually lower in rank than the one who only does his Faraa’idh but abstains from sinning.
Because the Maqsad of Ramadan is Taqwa!
Gaining Taqwa means changing for the better, being elevated in the eyes of Allah ﷻ, improving our lives!
There are many in the graves, who wish to see even a moment of Ramadan!
Such is the Barakah and the Rahma within it!
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
“Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan due to faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. Whoever stands in prayer during the Night of Decree due to faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”
[Sahih al-Bukhārī 1901, Sahih Muslim 760]
So change now!
